Who would know that something as simple as cutting the feet out of a pair of pantyhose would lead to an innovative new line of shapwear products? Sara Blakely had no idea that this simple act would lead to the launch of a new shapewear company. Two years later (in 2000), Sara was able to secure a patent for her idea. She found a manufacturer to produce the first batch of pantyhose. It did not take long after that for her to find a store to purchase her product.
Sara Blakely was fed up with many of the other shapewear products available on the market. Her company Spanx, responded to women’s needs for products that fit well and were always comfortable. The Spanx line has continued to grow over the past several years to include a wide variety of shapewear items to meet any woman’s need for the look of a thinner, smoother body.

The slimming apparel is stylish and comfortable. Pants and capris as well as skirts are available in the Spanx line of bottoms. The line of shirts offers long sleeve shirts, tank tops and three quarter length shirts.
Spanx shapewear can be purchased on the Internet. They are also available at several different stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Lane Bryant and Neiman Marcus. Spanx has shapewear options in various colors, designs and styles. Plus Size shapewear is also available in the SPANX brand.
